Citrine is a vastly popular gemstone which belongs to the family of quartz. The golden yellow-orange is caused when quartz is heated (by natural or artificial means) and iron impurities are reduced. This causes a reduction in the purple colour resulting in a stronger more golden orange stone.
Citrine has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale
